Coral's Local Perspective — Fresas By Mayra

Stories, recommendations and first-hand experiences shared by a Culebra resident.

I have known Mayra Félix for many years. She is the daughter of the great musician and master of the dron, Víctor “Cucuíto” Félix Muñet, and Mrs. Brunilda Rivera. Mayra holds a very special place in my heart because we share stories and adventures that still make us smile.

One of those unforgettable stories took place when we had no other means of transportation and decided to travel by dinghy from town to the old gallera, where Susie's restaurant is located today and where dance parties were held at the time. In the middle of the sea, the dinghy began to deflate. It became one of those memorable adventures that can only be told by two people who have shared so many years of friendship.

The business slogan, “Sweetness born from the heart,” perfectly describes both Mayra's strawberries and Mayra herself: a sweet, caring woman with a noble heart. We are also proud to see her developing this business alongside her husband, Michael Peña Romero. They have shared a lifetime together and represent a strong, united, and steadfast couple.

The strawberries with cream are spectacular and absolutely delicious. On September 25, 2026, I had the privilege of tasting them personally, although my daughter had already tried them and had given me an excellent review.

We bless this venture and wish them continued success—may everything they have achieved so far continue to grow and endure for many years.
