Culebra Remembered

Vance Thomas

The Vance Thomas Collection

Culebra also lives on in the faces, the places and the memories of those who have been part of its history. This collection brings together images that let us reconnect with everyday life in earlier times: its people, its streets, its shops, its gathering places and some of the moments that helped shape the community we know today.

Each photograph preserves a fragment of our collective memory. In sharing them, we honor the generations of culebrenses who, through their work, their customs and their stories, left an indelible mark on our island.

Photograph acknowledgements and credits: Commander Benjamín Pérez, Mayra Félix and Laurie Knowlton.
